e-bu Jewelry and Treasure Scarves
Designers Warren Moeller and Robbin Smith
Robbin and Warren are artists, travelers, and sailors. Their lives have been filled with the kinds of experiences we all dream of. The influence of living and creating with the island people of the world for more than 25 years is represented in their work.
They have an abstract aesthetic that mixes contemporary sensibilities with the primitive in an exotic way that makes the statement, why be ordinary?
As with Oceanic cultures, the materials for their adornments come from land and the sea.
Warren and Robbin have designed and created several beautiful lines of jewelry, scarves and table ware, using the natural elements that they have collected while sailing the South Pacific. With the participation of local craftsmen, they have utilized the products that nature provides in the South Pacific: bamboo, coconut shell, sea glass, red coral, pearls, ebony, sea urchin spines, fossilized walrus ivory, buffalo horn, polished bone, fossilized coral, and simple shells from the sea. Each piece is elegantly designed and handcrafted.
Huli History
“We chose the Hawaiian word “huli” to name our company. It means to change, as in one’s way of life, or to turn or to curl, as in the crest of a wave. We believe that we should keep our eyes open, and our vision changing.”
Jim and Vicki Punter were in the hotel-restaurant, vacation yacht charter, and gift shop business in the Virgin Islands for over 25 years. Seven years ago they decided to go on a world voyage on their 84' ketch, Firebird. Dylan Thomas is from South Africa and he joined Jim and Vicki in St. Thomas prior to their departure. They are now all one family and have shared all of the Firebird adventures. They sailed through some of the most remote areas of the world, including Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands . Now they have settled on the island of Kauai in Hawaii , and decided to go back into business. They have established HULI VISIONS, and are now the world distributors of e-bu Jewelry and Treasure Scarves, designed and made by their cruising friends, Warren and Robbin, whom they met up with in many ports of the South Seas.
HULI VISIONS continues to add new lines made by e-bu. Also, they have sucessfully opened a new gallery, HAVAIKI, in Princeville, Kauai. Here they are selling unique traditional Oceanic Art. Many of the items will be from their private collection, personally collected during their many years of cruising the fascinating islands and remote anchorages of Papua New Guinea , the Solomon Islands and Polynesia.
With over 100,000 miles of cruising, they have shared the beauty of an untouched, remote part of the world that not many people have seen, and they have many stories to tell.
